Hi There,

The problem with using any solid wood flooring directly above radiant floor heating is related to expansion/contraction or moisture issues which would adversely affect the flooring. To best protect your investment in 'flooring', we would not recommend you use a solid wood product. You can still use wood flooring, but it would be recommend to use an 'engineered' flooring product. This type of flooring uses a base which is unaffected by potential moisture or expansion/contraction. The 'flooring' side is a veneer which is identical to the solid wood product. Costs are typically the same. Logs End has a product produced specifically for use with radiant heating systems - www.logsend.com

Hello..and beautiful home!

I hear from many sources (hopefully misinformed) that one should never use pine or cedar over radiant floor heating. The wood is not durable enough (?).

In your experience, is it possible or advisable to lay solid cedar floorboards over a radiant floor heating system? I have seen either pipes filled with water / liquid or thin electric wires snaking back and forth as in floor / under floor heating systems.

Thanks. And would love to live in the house shown above!
