This is a great question as there are still some insurance companies that have high premiums for log homes. Ironically, most log homes with an average wall thickness of 8" or more have less risk of catching on fire in the first place. Flame-spread ratings & fire-resistence ratings are more favorable for log homes than standard wood-frame construction. Log homes should be insured at the same rate as any other home based on appraised value.
Most of our clients work with local insurance brokers, who have access to a number of insurance agencies. Usually, reasonable rates are easily found using an insurance broker. Please contact us directly if you have any other questions..

I'd like to know the names of insurance companies that insure log homes too. We pay almost $300 dollars a month to have ours insured and it took months to find a company that would insure us 10 years ago!

We are having difficulty finding insurers for our log home. Could you please recommend some log home insurance providers.

Do you have any idea who will insure a log home in BC at a reasonable cost? Most insurance companies we have talked to won't touch a log home.
